TEHRAN — In a pivotal step toward regional stability, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, held high-level talks with Iran’s Chief of General Staff, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, in Tehran on Tuesday, focusing on evolving security dynamics and ramping up bilateral defence cooperation.
According to an official statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the discussions centered on border security, counterterrorism, and turning the Pak-Iran border region into a corridor for trade and economic connectivity.
“Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening military interactions and expanding strategic collaboration to ensure peace and stability in the region,” the ISPR noted.
🤝 Warm Welcome & Strategic Talks
Field Marshal Munir received a ceremonial welcome at the General Staff Headquarters in Tehran, with an honour guard from the Iranian Armed Forces marking the occasion.
During the visit, the top brass also explored mechanisms to enhance joint border surveillance, address shared security threats, and deepen defense-to-defense communication.
🛡️ Building on Shared Goals
The meeting comes at a crucial time when the region faces mounting geopolitical challenges. Iran and Pakistan, long-time neighbors with shared borders and mutual concerns, stressed the urgency of counterterrorism coordination and broader military synergy.
Iranian General Bagheri praised Marshal Munir’s leadership and conveyed the strategic importance Pakistan holds in the vision of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Syed Ali Hosseini Khamenei.
“Iran stands ready to elevate military and intelligence cooperation with Pakistan to new heights,” Bagheri stated.
