Arshad Nadeem, Yasir Sultan Qualify for Javelin Final at Asian Meet
GUMI, SOUTH KOREA: Pakistan’s javelin superstar Arshad Nadeem and rising thrower Yasir Sultan have qualified for the javelin throw final at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships. The final will take place tomorrow at 1:10 PM Pakistan time.
Arshad Eyes Another Gold After Paris Glory
In his first major appearance since winning Olympic gold in Paris 2024, Arshad Nadeem threw an impressive 86.34 meters in his first attempt in Group A, topping the qualification round.
“This was a strong start,” said Arshad. “The final is tomorrow—please continue to pray for me. I hope to raise Pakistan’s flag high again. Pakistan Zindabad!”
Arshad made history last year by clinching Pakistan’s first individual Olympic gold medal with a record-breaking 92.97m throw.
Yasir Sultan Joins Final With Solid Effort
Yasir Sultan, part of Pakistan’s compact five-member squad, also made it to the final with a throw of 76.7m in Group B. The 2025 Asian Athletics Championships are being held in Gumi, South Korea, from May 27 to 31.
Recognition Beyond the Field
Earlier this week, Arshad was awarded the prestigious Best Asian Athlete Award by Asian Athletics. The ceremony was held in Gumi, acknowledging his extraordinary contributions to the sport in the region.
Arshad’s medal haul now includes Olympic, World, Commonwealth, and Asian podium finishes—making him a symbol of pride and consistency for Pakistani athletics.
Track Events & Promising Talent
On the track, sprinters Shajar Abbas and Mueed Baloch will represent Pakistan in the men’s 400m, while Tameen Khan, the sole female athlete in the squad, will compete in the women’s 100m sprint. The Pakistan Athletics Federation remains optimistic, aiming not just for participation but podium finishes.
