PM Shehbaz Directs Immediate Support for Pakistani Pilgrims in Iran

In the wake of escalating tensions in the Middle East, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed all relevant authorities to take urgent and comprehensive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of Pakistani Zaireen currently in Iran. His instructions follow a wave of deadly airstrikes launched by Israel on Iranian territory earlier today.

According to international reports, Israel claimed its strikes targeted nuclear sites, ballistic missile facilities, and top Iranian military officials, marking what it described as the beginning of a “prolonged operation” aimed at halting Iran’s nuclear ambitions. In swift retaliation, Iran responded with a barrage of drone attacks, escalating the already fragile security situation in the region.

Crisis Cell Activated for Monitoring and Support

In response to the unfolding crisis, a Crisis Management Cell has been established at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This unit will be responsible for round-the-clock monitoring of the situation, coordinating rescue and relief efforts, and providing continuous updates.

The Pakistani Embassy in Iran has also been placed on high alert. Ambassadorial staff have been instructed to offer immediate assistance to Zaireen, including support with travel and communication. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar issued a public advisory earlier today, sharing the embassy’s hotline number — (0098)-2166941388 — for Pakistanis in need of help.

Safe Return Top Priority

PM Shehbaz underscored the importance of taking immediate, effective steps to safeguard all Pakistani nationals currently in Iran. He directed that all available resources be deployed to facilitate their secure and swift return to Pakistan.

He also stressed that until the regional environment stabilizes, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in Iran must remain on high alert, ensuring uninterrupted support and coordination with the pilgrims.

Advisory Issued for Travelers

Given the volatile security conditions, the Foreign Office (FO) has advised all Pakistani Zaireen to reconsider travel plans to both Iran and Iraq. The FO urged citizens to exercise caution and remain updated on further advisories issued through official government channels.

Pakistan Strongly Condemns Israeli Aggression

Pakistan has voiced strong condemnation of the Israeli strikes. In a statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan labeled the action as “unjustified and illegitimate aggression,” asserting that it was a direct violation of Iran’s sovereignty and international law.

“Iran has every right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter,” the statement emphasized. Pakistan reaffirmed its resolute solidarity with the people of Iran, warning that such provocations posed a serious threat to regional and global peace.

Leaders Respond

President Asif Ali Zardari denounced the Israeli attacks as a “flagrant violation” of Iran’s territorial integrity. Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz Sharif described the military operation as a “grave and highly irresponsible act,” cautioning that it risks plunging the region into deeper instability.

As the crisis unfolds, Pulse Pakistan will continue to monitor developments and provide verified updates on the government’s response and the condition of Pakistani citizens abroad.
