PM Sharif Leads NSC Meeting to Review Security Issues and Iran-Israel Tensions

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is presiding over an important session of the National Security Committee (NSC) to review internal security matters and rising tensions between Iran and Israel, according to official sources.

The meeting is being attended by senior members of the country’s political and military leadership, including the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, representatives from the Navy and Air Force, and several federal ministers.

The committee is expected to analyze the evolving regional landscape in light of the Iran-Israel conflict, with particular attention to its possible implications for Pakistan’s national security and foreign policy stance.

Pakistan Condemns Strikes on Iranian Nuclear Sites

Previously, Pakistan strongly denounced Israel’s unilateral attacks on Iranian nuclear sites that are under the protection of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), calling the actions unlawful and provocative.

At an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, voiced deep concern over the lack of response to global appeals for de-escalation and dialogue.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s position has consistently been rooted in international law and the UN Charter, reaffirming the country’s opposition to Israeli aggression and expressing clear support for Iran’s right to self-defence as outlined under international law.
