Several Indian film unions have demanded a complete ban on singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh for collaborating with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3. The move has sparked controversy, with the associations calling the partnership a “betrayal” during a time of national sensitivity.

Two major industry groups — the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) — strongly criticized the decision to cast a Pakistani actress in an Indian production. They urged distributors and streaming platforms to cut ties with Dosanjh and the film’s team.

Producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu clarified that the film was completed long before recent India-Pakistan tensions and is only intended for international release. However, critics remained unconvinced. AICWA accused Dosanjh of collaborating with someone they described as a “terrorist,” while FWICE claimed the casting promoted anti-India sentiments.

In an official statement, AICWA said casting a Pakistani actor after a recent terror attack in Pahalgam raised questions about Dosanjh’s national loyalty. They called on music companies, film studios, and event organizers to stop working with him.

FWICE president B.N. Tiwari warned that the film would not be allowed to release in India and announced a ban on all of Dosanjh’s upcoming songs and films. He also urged the government to take strict action, calling the move disrespectful during a time of national mourning.

While the backlash continues in India, Pakistani celebrities have praised Hania Aamir’s role in the film, calling it a major step for cross-border artistic collaboration. The trailer for Sardaar Ji 3, released on Sunday, features Aamir in a lead role and was shared by Dosanjh on social media without comment.
