Islamabad, June 26, 2025 – The much-awaited Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, is set to release across Pakistan on Friday, June 27, after receiving approval from the national censor board. The film will not screen in India due to recent tensions and objections from Indian film bodies over Aamir’s casting.

Hania Aamir announced the release on Instagram, sharing a vibrant poster and expressing excitement for the film’s debut in her home country. The decision to skip India’s release follows backlash from the Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) and the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), who opposed the inclusion of a Pakistani actress. The film’s producers, noting the sensitivities, opted for an overseas release only.

The collaboration between Aamir and Dosanjh gained attention last year when she joined him on stage at his London concert, sparking speculation about her role in the Sardaar Ji series. Diljit, speaking to BBC Asian Network, explained that the film was shot in February when bilateral relations were stable. “Recent events were beyond our control, and the producers made the call to avoid releasing in India,” he said.

The film’s release comes amid heightened scrutiny following a May military confrontation, where unprovoked Indian missile strikes in Pakistan led to a swift retaliatory operation by the Pakistan Army, codenamed Bunyan-um-Marsoos, downing six Indian fighter jets. Despite the tensions, Sardaar Ji 3 promises to captivate Pakistani audiences with its blend of humor, action, and cultural resonance.
