Terrorist Attack in Hangu Martyrs Two FC Personnel, 18 Injured

At least two Federal Constabulary (FC) personnel were martyred and 18 others injured in a terrorist attack on an FC fort in Hangu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Monday. The attack, which took place in the Torah Wadi area of Doaba, led to intense retaliation by FC soldiers, resulting in the death of six terrorists.

A terrorist attack on a Federal Constabulary (FC) fort in Hangu district on Monday has claimed the lives of two FC personnel and left 18 others wounded, according to police reports. The attack occurred in the Torah Wadi area of Doaba, where terrorists opened fire on the fort, leading to the fatalities and injuries.

Kohat Regional Police Officer Abbas Majeed confirmed that the terrorists targeted the fort with heavy fire, resulting in the martyrdom of two FC personnel and injuries to 18 others. In response, FC soldiers mounted a counterattack, killing six terrorists, although the attackers managed to escape with the bodies of their fallen comrades.

The martyred and injured FC personnel were immediately transported to CMH Hospital after receiving first aid at the scene of the attack. The injured personnel are reportedly in stable condition.

The attack has drawn strong condemnation from the government, with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressing his sorrow over the incident. Naqvi also paid tribute to the brave FC personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He further highlighted the government’s belief that the attack was orchestrated by Fitna al Hindustan, a terrorist organization with alleged ties to India, which the government has labeled as a destabilizing force in the region.

This latest terrorist attack comes amid a growing wave of violence in Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, following the end of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) ceasefire in late 2022. Attacks have increasingly targeted law enforcement and security personnel, with the state stepping up its counterterrorism operations in response.

Earlier this month, militants attacked police checkpoints in various parts of KP, martyring five police officers and injuring eight others. Additionally, in a recent operation in Hangu, nine terrorists were killed, and three security officers were injured, underscoring the intensifying nature of security challenges in the region.
