Military Strikes Terrorist Hideouts, Seizing Weapons in Latest Anti-Terrorism Operation
TANK: Pakistan’s security forces have successfully killed eight terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Friday. The operation was carried out after reports of the presence of Fitna al-Khawarij militants in the area, suspected to be backed by India.
The operation, launched by the Pakistan Armed Forces, targeted terrorist hideouts in the region. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an intense exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the death of eight militants. These terrorists, reportedly sponsored by India, were involved in several violent activities, including attacks on Pakistani forces and the murder of innocent civilians.

Weapons and Ammunition Seized from Killed Militants
The military recovered substantial amounts of weapons and ammunition from the slain terrorists. These terrorists were known for their involvement in various cross-border attacks and terror activities that have caused significant harm to Pakistan’s security forces and civilian population.
Following the operation, a sanitisation process is ongoing in the area to ensure that no other militants remain. This effort is part of the military’s broader strategy to eliminate any remnants of terror networks operating within Pakistan’s borders.
Rising Terrorism Threat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan
The attack comes amid a significant increase in terrorist activity, particularly in the border regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Since the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan in 2021, cross-border terrorism has surged, with militants frequently launching attacks from Afghan soil into Pakistan.
KP, in particular, has been at the epicenter of this violence, witnessing over 600 terror incidents in the first eight months of 2025 alone. These attacks have resulted in the martyrdom of 138 civilians and 79 police officers, with many others injured.
Earlier on Friday, three police personnel, including SP Operations Asad Zubair, were martyred in an IED attack in Hangu district, which further highlights the region’s ongoing security challenges.

Cross-Border Terrorism and Diplomatic Efforts
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban regime to take action against militants operating from Afghan territory. The escalating violence has resulted in multiple border clashes, including an intense exchange of fire between Pakistani and Afghan forces earlier this month.
On October 12, Pakistan launched retaliatory strikes against Taliban positions along the border after unprovoked firing by militants. The strikes resulted in the deaths of over 200 Afghan Taliban fighters and affiliated militants, while 23 Pakistani soldiers also made the ultimate sacrifice.
A ceasefire was subsequently agreed upon, and a meeting is scheduled for October 25 in Istanbul, Turkey, where delegations from both countries will discuss the terms of the ceasefire and explore ways to address cross-border terrorism.
Ongoing Commitment to Counterterrorism
The latest operation in Tank reflects Pakistan’s continued commitment to fighting terrorism within its borders and preventing cross-border attacks. With the military actively targeting terrorist networks and dismantling their infrastructure, the Pakistani government remains focused on restoring peace and stability in the region.
As the situation in Afghanistan remains fluid, Pakistan’s security forces are prepared for further operations to safeguard the nation from external and internal threats posed by militant groups.
