England all-rounder Moeen Ali has confirmed his return to the Pakistan Super League after a four-year absence, expressing excitement about rejoining the competition as it enters what the PCB has described as a PSL new era with an expanded eight-team lineup.
The 38-year-old announced his decision on Instagram, saying he was eager to experience the league’s elevated standard of cricket once again. Moeen previously represented Multan Sultans in the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
‘Playing in Pakistan is always incredible’
Moeen praised the PSL for earning global recognition since its launch in 2016, calling it one of the most competitive T20 leagues in world cricket. He described playing in Pakistan as a unique experience, crediting the passionate crowds for pushing players to perform at their highest level.
“Playing in Pakistan is always incredible — the quality of cricket is outstanding, and the passion and intensity from the crowd push you to bring your best,” Moeen said, adding that he hopes to create “great memories” in the upcoming season.
Veteran of international cricket
During a decorated international career, Moeen appeared in 68 Tests, 138 ODIs and 92 T20Is for England. He was also part of the squad that toured Pakistan in 2022 for a historic three-match Test series, and he has made multiple visits to the country throughout his career.

Comes as Faf du Plessis opts for PSL
His announcement follows another major global development in franchise cricket: former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis recently decided to skip the IPL auction to make himself available for the upcoming PSL season. Du Plessis said the choice came with “a lot of gratitude” as he reflected on his IPL journey.
With Moeen Ali now confirmed and the league preparing to introduce two additional franchises, PSL organisers anticipate heightened interest from international stars as the new season approaches.
