Islamabad police say TikTok influencer Sana Yousaf, 17, was fatally shot at her home by a man she had repeatedly rejected online. The suspect is now in custody.
Teen Influencer Killed in Islamabad
Sana Yousaf, a rising social media star with over 800,000 TikTok followers, was shot dead Monday evening at her residence in Islamabad. The influencer had celebrated her 17th birthday just days earlier and posted her final video hours before her death.
Suspect Arrested Outside Victim’s Home
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder. According to Islamabad Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the suspect had loitered outside Sana’s home for hours before the attack. “It was a case of repeated rejections,” Rizvi told reporters during a press briefing. “It was a gruesome and cold-blooded murder.”
Violence After Rejection Not Uncommon
Pakistan has seen a troubling trend of violence against women following rejected romantic advances. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan notes the country’s persistent gender-based violence issues. In 2021, the brutal murder of Noor Mukadam sparked nationwide outrage under similar circumstances.
Social Media Reacts with Shock
Fans expressed their grief in the comment section of Sana’s last video, where she appeared happy celebrating her birthday. Messages like “Rest in Peace” and “Justice for Sana” have flooded her TikTok profile.
