The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 within a 15-kilometre radius of all airports and airbases from June 5 to 20, banning drones, fireworks, and waste dumping to ensure flight safety during Eidul Azha.
Flight Safety Measures for Eid Period
To safeguard aircraft operations during the busy Eidul Azha travel season, the Punjab Home Department has announced a temporary ban on certain activities around all airports and airbases in the province. Section 144 will remain in effect from June 5 to 20.
Activities Banned Under Section 144
Under the new order, pigeon flying, fireworks, drone and laser light use, and dumping of sacrificial animal waste or Sadqa meat near airfields have been strictly prohibited. These actions pose serious threats to flight operations, according to the notification issued by the home department.

Risks of Bird Strikes Prompt Action
Officials have raised concerns over the disposal of meat during Eid attracting birds, significantly increasing the risk of bird strikes. “Such incidents can disrupt flights and endanger lives,” a government spokesperson said. Past years have witnessed several flight disruptions due to this issue.
Strict Enforcement and Cleanliness Drives
All deputy commissioners across Punjab have been instructed to enforce the ban and ensure extensive cleanliness operations in airport zones. Authorities have warned that violators will face legal consequences.
Ongoing Public Awareness Campaigns
The measure is part of broader efforts to enhance aviation safety and public awareness. Campaigns urging proper waste disposal and responsible community behavior are already underway across major cities in Punjab.
