Babar Azam drops out of ICC T20I top 10 after 8 years; Haris jumps 210 to 30th place

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has fallen out of the ICC Men’s T20I top 10 rankings for the first time in eight years, slipping to 12th, while rising star Mohammad Haris jumped 210 places to reach 30th after a stellar series against Bangladesh.

Babar’s Long Top-10 Run Ends

Babar Azam’s slide in the T20I rankings marks the end of an era, as the consistent top-10 presence since 2016 has been broken. Dropping three spots, he now sits at 12th, just ahead of teammate Mohammad Rizwan, who also fell to 13th. Babar’s last T20I outing was in January, and despite scoring three fifties against South Africa, poor form against West Indies hurt his standing.

Mohammad Haris Breaks Through

In contrast, explosive opener Mohammad Haris made headlines by leaping 210 places to No. 30 in the ICC T20I batting rankings, earning 580 rating points. Haris smashed the second-fastest T20I hundred by a Pakistani during the third match against Bangladesh, playing a pivotal role in Pakistan’s 3-0 series sweep.

Emerging Batters on the Rise

Hasan Nawaz surged 57 places to 45th, while Saim Ayub moved up four positions to 61st. Captain Agha Salman, with a steady 90 runs across the series, climbed 42 spots to 75th. The young core of Pakistan’s revamped T20I side continues to gain global recognition.

Bowling Rankings: Abbas, Shadab Climb

Among bowlers, Abbas Afridi soared 18 places to 19th with 605 points, becoming Pakistan’s highest-ranked T20I bowler. Shadab Khan made a strong return, jumping 24 places to 59th — tied with Abrar Ahmed, who himself leapt 45 places.

In contrast, Shaheen Afridi fell to 36th, Haris Rauf dropped to 19th, Sufiyan Muqeem to 83rd, and Naseem Shah to 94th.

Global Standings

New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy leads the ICC T20I bowling charts, followed by Akeal Hosein of the West Indies and India’s Varun Chakaravarthy.
