A curfew has been imposed in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following a major security operation by police and military forces. The operation led to the arrest of 14 terrorist facilitators and the destruction of three hideouts in the Hoveed and Wazirabad areas, as authorities continue their efforts to combat militant activity in the region.
On Friday, a joint operation by Pakistan’s police and army in Bannu resulted in the arrest of 14 individuals connected to terrorist activities. The operation, which targeted the Hoveed and Wazirabad areas, led to the dismantling of three terrorist hideouts and the seizure of three vehicles, including two motorcycles and a rickshaw.
Bannu police spokesperson Khanzala Quraishi stated that the operation was carried out based on intelligence reports, which indicated the presence of militants in the Wazirabad and Tudonar areas along the Tuchi River. Security forces cleared five suspected targets and conducted joint patrols in the surrounding areas to ensure the region’s security.

The operation began at 5 AM, under the supervision of District Police Officer Saleem Abbasi Kalachi, and was ordered by Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan. During the operation, police and military personnel conducted house-to-house searches to locate and apprehend any remaining militants. In case of any suspicious activity or resistance, swift action was taken to prevent any escape.
A curfew was imposed during the operation for public safety, and citizens were advised to stay indoors and cooperate with security agencies. Authorities also warned that providing any form of assistance to terrorists would result in strict legal action.
This operation follows a series of attacks in Bannu in recent months, including a terrorist attack on a police checkpoint last week, which resulted in the martyrdom of a constable and the deaths of three militants. The use of quadcopters for attacks on police stations has also raised concerns about security in the region.
The Pakistani security forces have vowed to continue their efforts to rid Bannu and neighboring areas of terrorist elements and restore peace to the region.
