PM Shehbaz Hails Trump as ‘Man of Peace’ After Historic Gaza Ceasefire Deal

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised US President Donald Trump as a “genuine man of peace” for his tireless efforts in securing a historic ceasefire deal in Gaza, which has brought an end to months of escalating violence in the region. Speaking at a press conference alongside global leaders in Sharm El-Sheikh on Monday, the Pakistani Prime Minister called the signing of the Gaza peace agreement “one of the greatest days in contemporary history.”

Trump, who was instrumental in mediating the peace deal between Israel and Hamas, was described by PM Shehbaz as a leader who had worked relentlessly to end wars and promote global stability. “The world is now witnessing peace, thanks to President Trump’s extraordinary diplomatic efforts,” Shehbaz remarked, emphasizing the significance of the peace deal that has brought respite to millions affected by the ongoing conflict.

The Gaza Peace Agreement and International Cooperation

The ceasefire agreement was signed during an international summit hosted by Egypt at the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh. The deal, brokered by the US, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, saw Hamas free the last living Israeli hostages from Gaza, while Israel agreed to release busloads of Palestinian detainees. The ceasefire halted one of Israel’s largest offensives in Gaza, which had resulted in the loss of many lives.

Speaking about the peace process, Shehbaz reiterated that Pakistan had previously nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in averting war between India and Pakistan. He again voiced his support for the US president’s candidacy, calling Trump “the most deserving candidate” for the prestigious award. “He has brought peace not only to South Asia but also to the Middle East,” Shehbaz said.

Acknowledging Trump’s Leadership and Vision

PM Shehbaz commended Trump’s leadership, stating that the president’s timely intervention had prevented a catastrophic war between two nuclear powers, India and Pakistan. “His visionary and exemplary leadership made him a symbol of hope for the world,” Shehbaz added, underscoring Trump’s crucial role in de-escalating global tensions.

Trump, visibly humbled by the praise, expressed gratitude for the recognition but downplayed the accolades. He thanked PM Shehbaz for his cooperation in peace efforts and referred to Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir as his “favourite,” a gesture highlighting the close diplomatic ties between the two nations.

PM Shehbaz’s Diplomatic Engagements in Sharm El-Sheikh

Before the press conference, PM Shehbaz engaged in a series of high-level meetings with world leaders. He met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who expressed deep gratitude to Pakistan for its unwavering support of the Palestinian cause. Shehbaz also held talks with Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. All three leaders praised the recent Gaza ceasefire and reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace.

In addition, PM Shehbaz had discussions with global leaders such as King Abdullah II of Jordan, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and others. These meetings reflected a shared commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond.
