Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski to Arrive in Pakistan for Talks on Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Two-day visit will focus on expanding cooperation in political, economic, defense, and educational sectors

Islamabad — Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Radosław Sikorski, is set to arrive in Pakistan tomorrow (Thursday) for a two-day official visit from October 23 to 24. The visit, which marks his second trip to Pakistan, comes at the invitation of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Senator Ishaq Dar.

During his visit, Sikorski will hold both a one-on-one meeting and delegation-level talks with DPM Dar, where the two leaders are expected to discuss a broad range of bilateral issues. These talks are anticipated to cover political, economic, defense, and educational matters. Following the meetings, both sides will address the media in a joint press stakeout.

The visit underscores the ongoing efforts to further enhance Pakistan–Poland relations, with both countries keen to expand their cooperation across various fields. The Foreign Office statement highlighted that Sikorski’s visit is a significant milestone in the relationship between the two nations, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to deepening ties with Poland for mutual benefit.

Expanding Bilateral Ties: Trade and Cooperation in Focus

Bilateral relations between Pakistan and Poland have grown steadily in recent years, with significant cooperation across multiple sectors. According to the Foreign Office, the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries reached $922 million in 2023. Pakistan’s exports to Poland totaled $794 million, while imports from Poland amounted to $128 million.

Earlier this year, in July, Pakistan and Poland held the 9th Round of Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) in Warsaw. The meeting allowed both sides to review the full spectrum of their relationship, during which they agreed to further enhance cooperation through high-level exchanges, parliamentary dialogues, and deeper political engagement.

Strengthening Ties Through Diplomacy and Cooperation

The upcoming visit is set to build on previous diplomatic efforts aimed at fostering stronger ties. Both sides are particularly focused on exploring new areas of collaboration and advancing mutual interests in a range of key sectors.

Sikorski’s visit is expected to further solidify the bonds between the two nations, particularly as both Pakistan and Poland seek to leverage their strategic positions in their respective regions.
