ISLAMABAD: United Arab Emirates President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on December 26 for his first official visit to the country since assuming office, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan-UAE relations.
The visit comes at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and underscores the depth of longstanding ties between the two nations. According to the Foreign Office, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed will hold detailed discussions with the prime minister, during which both leaders will review the full scope of bilateral relations and exchange views on key regional and international developments.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the engagement will focus on strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, energy, development, and regional stability. He noted that the visit reflects a shared commitment by Islamabad and Abu Dhabi to further deepen strategic collaboration and advance mutual economic interests.
Pakistan and the UAE have historically maintained close and brotherly relations, supported by strong political coordination, economic partnerships, and cultural linkages. Officials believe the visit will provide a timely opportunity to build on this foundation and explore new avenues for cooperation amid evolving regional dynamics.
The spokesperson added that the visit highlights the importance both countries place on sustained high-level engagement and mutual support on regional and global platforms.
In connection with the visit, the Islamabad administration has declared a local public holiday on Friday. A notification issued by Additional District Magistrate Sahibzada Muhammad Yousaf confirmed that while government offices in the federal capital will remain closed, essential services will continue to operate without interruption.
