Ahsan Iqbal Highlights AI and Education at Rice University

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal delivered a keynote address at a policy dialogue hosted by Rice University under the theme “Reimagining Pakistan: Diplomacy, Development, and Opportunities Post U.S.-Iran War.” The event, jointly organized by the International Academy of Letters USA and Rice University, brought together diplomats, academics, policy experts, students, and members of the Pakistani-American community to discuss Pakistan’s development priorities and its role in an evolving global landscape.

During his address, Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that Pakistan’s future prosperity depends on investing in education, artificial intelligence (AI), innovation, and human capital. He said the country’s young population represents its greatest asset and stressed the need to equip future generations with advanced digital skills to compete in the global knowledge economy. He also highlighted the government’s focus on strengthening higher education, scientific research, and technology-driven development.

The minister underscored the importance of expanding international collaboration in education, research, and innovation, noting that stronger partnerships with leading universities and technology institutions can help accelerate Pakistan’s transition to a knowledge-based economy. He encouraged overseas Pakistanis, academics, researchers, and professionals to contribute their expertise and investment in support of the country’s long-term development and sustainable economic growth.

Ahsan Iqbal also discussed Pakistan’s evolving diplomatic role and the opportunities emerging from changing regional dynamics. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to pursuing strategic planning, economic reforms, and global engagement to position Pakistan as a competitive and innovation-driven nation.
