A Rawalpindi court has sentenced Farrukh Khokhar to life imprisonment in the high-profile murder case of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Majid Satti. The verdict concludes nearly four years of legal proceedings surrounding a case that attracted significant political and public attention in Punjab.
Rawalpindi Court Delivers Verdict
The judgment was announced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ejaz Safi on Tuesday at the Rawalpindi court complex.
Before the ruling was formally read, court officials instructed law enforcement personnel to immediately take Farrukh Khokhar into custody to eliminate any possibility of escape. Following the verdict, he was handcuffed inside the courtroom and ordered to be transferred to Adiala Jail under strict security arrangements.
Authorities deployed a heavy police presence around the court complex as a large number of people gathered to witness the proceedings.
Why Farrukh Khokhar Was Convicted
According to the prosecution, Farrukh Khokhar and his co-accused were responsible for the killing of PTI activist Majid Satti on August 23, 2022.
The court found sufficient evidence to convict Khokhar after hearing arguments presented during the lengthy trial.
The murder case had remained under close public scrutiny because of the victim’s political affiliation and the accused’s prominent family background.
Majid Satti Murder Case
Prosecutors told the court that Majid Satti was attacked after attempting to prevent what was described as the illegal occupation of a plot of land in Rawalpindi.
Investigators said Satti was leaving his business located on Sixth Road when motorcycle-riding assailants opened fire.

Although he sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, authorities stated that he later died from excessive blood loss while being transported to hospital.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Sadiqabad Police Station, where the First Information Report (FIR) was registered. For information about Pakistan’s judicial system, visit the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Investigation and Evidence
Police investigators collected forensic material and reviewed CCTV footage from the surrounding area during the investigation.
The prosecution relied on these findings, along with witness testimony and other evidence, to build its case against the accused.
After considering the available evidence, the court handed down a life imprisonment sentence to Farrukh Khokhar.
Political Background of the Case
Farrukh Khokhar is the son of the late Taji Khokhar, a well-known political figure in Rawalpindi who was widely regarded as a close associate of President Asif Ali Zardari.
Meanwhile, Majid Satti was an active member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), making the case politically significant and closely followed by supporters of multiple parties.
The verdict is expected to remain a subject of public and political discussion due to the profiles of both the victim and the convicted individual.
