In a significant show of bilateral solidarity, Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of the General Staff, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, has conferred the prestigious ‘Patriotic War Medal’ on Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. This honor, presented on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev, recognizes COAS Munir’s role in strengthening military ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
The ceremony took place at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where Colonel General Valiyev and Field Marshal Munir engaged in detailed discussions on various military matters of mutual interest. These talks also encompassed the current global and regional security landscape. The two leaders emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and further strengthening the bond between the two countries.

During the meeting, COAS Munir expressed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to deepening its relationship with Azerbaijan, underscoring the longstanding fraternal ties between the nations. His remarks highlighted the success of the Pakistan military’s operations, particularly the operation ‘Bunyan-um-Marsoos.’
The diplomatic visit also saw the delegation extending heartfelt congratulations to Pakistan ahead of its upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
