Authorities in Bajaur have ordered the evacuation of additional towns and villages ahead of a targeted anti-terror operation. The move is aimed at ensuring public safety as the district braces for a crackdown on terrorist elements. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reports that more than 24,000 families have already been displaced, with up to 56,000 families potentially affected by the operation.
In an effort to ensure public safety during an escalating anti-terror operation, authorities in Bajaur tribal district have ordered the evacuation of several more towns and villages. The district administration has informed residents in areas such as Malangi, Sparay, Dawowgai, and Khwarchai, among others, to vacate their homes by 10 a.m. on August 16, 2025, and move to safer locations.

The evacuation is part of a larger plan to clear the area of terrorist elements and miscreants ahead of the operation. The district administration has arranged transportation for the evacuees to move to safe locations, such as the Sports Complex Camp and other government buildings. For those unable to access government transportation, private transport has been advised. Authorities have assured residents that transport, sustenance, and return grants will be provided to those displaced.
The evacuation affects a substantial portion of the population, as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) estimates that up to 56,000 families could be displaced due to the operation. As of now, more than 24,000 families have already relocated, with around 2,000 families currently residing in government buildings and temporary relief camps. The remaining families have sought refuge with relatives and extended family members.

To support relief and rehabilitation efforts, the provincial government has allocated Rs 1.9 billion for the displaced population. This funding is intended to provide essential services and aid to those affected by the ongoing crisis.
Local authorities are urging the cooperation of residents to ensure the timely and safe evacuation of all families, allowing the district to be cleared of hostile forces and ensuring the safety of the wider population.
