Chaos During Toshakhana Case Hearing
RAWALPINDI – A dramatic scene unfolded outside Adiala jail on Friday when eggs were thrown at Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan, as she was addressing journalists after attending a hearing in the Toshakhana case.
Eyewitnesses said Aleema was visibly startled at first but quickly regained composure. “We don’t care if anyone attacks us as we knew this would happen,” she remarked before leaving the scene in her car to avoid further confrontation.
Protesters Linked to KP Government Employees
Police officials confirmed that two women were taken into custody for allegedly throwing the eggs. They were later identified as employees of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, linked with groups protesting against Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur over delayed salaries and alleged irregularities.
“People from KP All Government Employees Grand Alliance and APCA had come to protest,” the police said, adding that the confrontation began after Aleema refused to answer their questions.
PTI Leaders Condemn Incident
The situation grew tense as PTI workers, including Seemabia Tahir, loudly protested the act, prompting immediate police intervention. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan condemned the incident, saying, “There is someone who wants to worsen the situation by attacking PTI founder’s family.”
“This is the first time the matter has reached the point of a physical attack,” he added, calling for foolproof security for Imran Khan’s family.
Aleema’s Comments on Imran Khan’s Health
Earlier in her media talk, Aleema shared updates about her brother’s health, dismissing speculation on social media. She said Imran reassured her that his ear issue was not serious and that doctors had prescribed medicine for his eyes.
She added that the PTI founder expressed deep concern over recent floods that destroyed crops nationwide and voiced sorrow over the forced eviction of Afghan families, reminding that Afghanistan is already suffering after a devastating earthquake.
