Pakistan’s opener Fakhar Zaman has been fined 10% of his match fee after being found guilty of violating the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Code of Conduct during the Tri-Series final against Sri Lanka on November 29.
The ICC confirmed that Zaman breached Article 2.8, which addresses “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match.” One demerit point has been added to his disciplinary record, marking his first offense within a 24-month period.

Incident During Tri-Series Final
The incident occurred in the 19th over of Pakistan’s innings when Zaman engaged in a prolonged argument with on-field umpires following his dismissal. The charge was levied by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Asif Yaqoob, third umpire Rashid Riaz, and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi, while Match Referee Reon King proposed the sanction. Zaman accepted the penalty, removing the need for a formal hearing.
Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct carry penalties ranging from an official reprimand to a maximum fine of 50% of the match fee, along with one or two demerit points.

Despite the incident, Pakistan secured a six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the final at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Batting first, the Lankan Lions were bowled out for 114 in 19.1 overs, with opener Kamil Mishara top-scoring with 59 off 47 balls, including two fours and four sixes.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz took three wickets each, supported by Abrar Ahmed with two, while Salman Mirza and Saim Ayub claimed one wicket apiece.
In the run chase, Pakistan reached the target in 18.4 overs for the loss of four wickets. Babar Azam remained unbeaten on 37 off 34 deliveries, while openers Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan contributed 36 and 23 runs respectively.
