Imran Khan Eye Health Sparks Concern
Imran Khan eye health has become a growing concern as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) officials raised alarms over reports that the former prime minister may be suffering from a serious eye condition while in jail.
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, PTI Chairman, spoke to media in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, expressing worry over the former premier’s reported diagnosis of Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO), a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if not treated urgently.
Medical Reports and Jail Restrictions
According to PTI, credible media sources indicate that Imran Khan eye (the right eye) is affected, resulting in a blockage of the retinal vein. The party said specialists who examined Khan in jail confirmed that proper treatment would require an operation theatre and advanced medical facilities, which the Adiala jail reportedly cannot provide.
Despite this, PTI claims the jail administration has insisted on treating Khan internally, a move the party warns could endanger both his eyesight and overall health. The party highlighted that Khan last saw his personal physician in October 2024, which it described as a violation of court orders and a breach of fundamental human rights.
Family Access and Court Orders
Barrister Gohar emphasized the importance of family interactions, citing prior meetings with Bushra Bibi in November 2025 and a separate meeting for Khan in December 2025. The PTI insists that such visits must continue unhindered, arguing that they are vital for Khan’s wellbeing.

Hospital Intervention and Official Statements
Shaukat Khanum Hospital has requested that a medical team be granted immediate access to evaluate Khan’s condition. While the hospital acknowledged concerns over the reports, it noted it could not independently verify the information. PTI called for Khan’s transfer to a reputable hospital, such as Shaukat Khanum, or any facility of his choice for proper treatment.
Noreen Khan Denies Health Issues
Contradicting recent claims made by certain political circles, Imran Khan’s sister, Noreen Khan, firmly dismissed reports suggesting that the former prime minister is suffering from any eye-related or other health issues. She emphasized that Khan remains in good health and expressed frustration at the media’s role in spreading unverified information. Noreen accused various outlets of circulating misleading narratives, which she said were intended to create confusion and alarm among the public.
Political and Security Context
Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023 and is currently facing multiple legal cases, including charges related to corruption and terrorism, following his removal from office in April 2022. Barrister Gohar highlighted that political considerations should not intrude upon personal and family matters, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clear distinction between political disputes and private interactions. He underlined that national security and counter-terrorism measures remain the government’s top priority, urging both provincial and federal authorities to ensure the safety of all citizens and protect property, while refusing to negotiate under threats of violence or intimidation.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has warned that any permanent damage to Imran Khan eye sight or overall health due to delayed or inadequate medical treatment will be the responsibility of the government and prison authorities. The party continues to demand unrestricted access for family visits and the provision of proper medical care, keeping the matter prominently in the public eye and maintaining pressure on authorities to uphold humane treatment.
