Imran Khan Vision Loss claims have surfaced in a medical report submitted to the Supreme Court, with the former prime minister informing the court that only 15% vision remains in his right eye following what he described as delayed medical intervention during his incarceration.
The development has triggered sharp political reactions, with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) accusing prison authorities of negligence and demanding accountability.
Medical Report Submitted to Supreme Court
A seven-page report filed by PTI counsel Salman Safdar detailed his meeting with the incarcerated PTI founder at Adiala Jail. The court had appointed Safdar as amicus curiae and directed him to assess Khan’s condition and submit findings.
According to the document, Imran Khan stated that he had been diagnosed with a blood clot in his right eye that caused severe damage. Despite receiving treatment, including an injection administered by a specialist at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), he reportedly retains only 15% vision in that eye.
The report notes that until October 2025, Khan claimed to have normal 6/6 vision in both eyes. However, he began experiencing persistent blurred and hazy vision months earlier, which he said he repeatedly reported to prison authorities.
Details of Alleged Vision Deterioration
The Imran Khan Vision Loss claim states that for nearly three months, he was treated only with eye drops despite worsening symptoms. He later suffered a sudden and complete loss of vision in his right eye.
An ophthalmologist at PIMS, Dr Muhammad Arif, reportedly examined him and diagnosed a blood clot that led to significant impairment.
Safdar’s report described Khan as visibly distressed during their meeting, noting watery eyes and signs of discomfort. The PTI founder reportedly expressed concern that his health complaints were not taken seriously in a timely manner.

Access to Doctors and Medical Care Concerns
Beyond the eye condition, the report mentions that Khan raised concerns about limited access to medical consultations. He stated that despite being 73 years old and facing multiple legal cases, he had not previously highlighted personal health matters.
He further claimed that his personal physicians — Dr Faisal Sultan and Dr Asim Yusuf — had earlier been allowed access but subsequent requests were denied.
Khan also reportedly said that regular blood tests had not been conducted despite his age and medical needs. Additionally, he noted that he had not received dental consultation over the past two years despite repeated requests.

Claims Over Legal and Family Restrictions
The former prime minister also raised issues related to access to legal counsel and family members.
According to the report presented in court, he stated that for the past five months he has not been allowed to meet his lead counsel or key members of his legal team, despite multiple cases pending at various stages.
He also alleged that immediate family members, including his sisters, were denied visitation rights. However, he said he is currently permitted to meet his wife once a week for approximately 30 minutes following a change in jail administration.
Khan further claimed that in 2025 he was allowed to speak with his sons in the United Kingdom on only two occasions, despite repeated applications.
PTI Leadership Reacts Strongly
PTI leaders responded sharply to the Imran Khan Vision Loss claim.
His sister, Aleema Khan, expressed concern over his health and alleged that prison authorities had been informed about his deteriorating eyesight for months without taking appropriate action.
Separately, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja alleged that a criminal offence had been committed and called for accountability. He demanded that doctors trusted by Khan and his family be allowed to provide immediate medical treatment.
PTI also urged courts to expedite hearings in pending cases, including the Toshakhana matter.
Authorities have not publicly responded in detail to the allegations at the time of reporting.
