In a chilling revelation, the head of a jirga has confessed to personally killing a married woman in Rawalpindi’s Pirwadhai area. Ismatullah, who led the jirga that sanctioned the murder, admitted to the crime during police interrogation. His confession has led to the recovery of a Kalashnikov, though the suspect failed to produce a legal license for the weapon, prompting further charges.
The shocking incident, which occurred between July 16 and 17, 2025, has drawn widespread attention. The victim, Sidra, was a married woman and the cousin of the jirga leader Ismatullah. According to police, the jirga had decided to murder Sidra, and Ismatullah personally carried out the act. He forcibly took Sidra from her home in Muzaffarabad to Rawalpindi and, in accordance with the jirga’s decision, murdered her.

Ismatullah’s confession provided crucial details about the murder, including the involvement of accomplices Saleh Muhammad, Amani Gul, and others. The suspect admitted to burying Sidra’s body in a graveyard following the killing. During questioning, Ismatullah also revealed the weapon used in the murder, leading police to recover a Kalashnikov. However, authorities noted that the suspect was unable to present a license for the firearm, prompting the registration of an additional case against him for the illegal possession of weapons.
The murder has shocked the local community, as jirgas, traditional tribal councils, continue to wield influence in certain areas despite legal prohibitions on such practices. The police investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to bring all involved parties to justice.
