Security forces eliminated at least 15 India-backed terrorists in two intelligence-based operations carried out across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military confirmed on Tuesday. The coordinated KP operations, conducted between November 8 and 9, targeted networks linked to the proxy outfit Fitna al-Khawarij.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first operation was launched in Kulachi, Dera Ismail Khan, following reports of militant presence in the area. Troops engaged the suspects and killed 10 terrorists, including ringleader Alam Mehsud, who authorities described as a key figure in the Indian-proxy network.
In a separate IBO conducted in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan, security personnel fatally shot five additional militants. The ISPR noted that sweep and sanitisation missions continue in both regions to eliminate any remaining operatives.
The statement reiterated that Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework—approved by the federal apex committee on the National Action Plan—is being pursued at full strength to dismantle foreign-backed militant structures.
Suicide bomber dies in failed attack in Bannu
In a separate incident on Tuesday, a suicide bomber detonated himself near the Basia Khel police station in Bannu after approaching the area on a motorcycle. Police confirmed that no other casualties occurred in the blast, which took place close to the Do Ghora Bridge.
Authorities recovered the attacker’s remains and the destroyed motorcycle from the scene, while law enforcement teams immediately cordoned off the area and opened an investigation.

The failed attack comes just days after a deadly suicide bombing at Islamabad’s Judicial Complex on November 11, which killed 12 people and wounded at least 36, including lawyers and petitioners. Federal officials recently arrested four members of a TTP/Fitna al-Khawarij cell allegedly linked to that bombing.
The latest events underscore the heightened threat environment in the region as security forces continue operations to dismantle extremist networks and prevent further suicide blast attempts.
