Islamabad, July 22, 2025 — Security forces in Balochistan’s Kalat district neutralized four terrorists during a sanitization operation, recovering weapons and explosives, the military’s media wing announced on Tuesday.
On Monday, security forces conducted a follow-up sanitization operation in Kalat’s surrounding areas after a successful intelligence-based mission on Saturday eliminated four terrorists linked to a foreign-backed group. The latest operation targeted a terrorist hideout, resulting in the neutralization of four additional terrorists and the seizure of a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives. The military emphasized its commitment to countering foreign-sponsored elements aiming to disrupt peace and stability in Balochistan.
The government has recently labeled terrorist organizations in the region as foreign proxies, highlighting their alleged role in destabilizing Pakistan. This operation follows a surge in militant activities in Balochistan, including a recent attack on a passenger bus in Kalat that killed three and injured seven.
President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for their bravery and professionalism, stating that the nation stands united with its forces to eradicate terrorism. “The enemies of peace will not succeed,” he said, reaffirming the resolve to eliminate terrorism completely.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif echoed this sentiment, vowing to foil the designs of terrorists targeting civilians and national solidarity. “We are committed to rooting out this menace,” he said.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the forces’ timely action, calling the operation a clear message that foreign-sponsored terrorism will find no safe haven in Pakistan. “Every terrorist will be eliminated,” he added.
The security situation in Balochistan remains tense, with militants intensifying attacks on both civilians and security forces in recent months. The government and military continue to prioritize operations to restore stability in the region.
