Arshad Nadeem Clinches National Games Javelin Gold with 81.81m Throw

KARACHI, December 8, 2025 — Pakistan’s Olympic javelin star Arshad Nadeem claimed the gold medal in the men’s javelin event at the 35th National Games, held at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. Representing WAPDA, Arshad recorded a best throw of 81.81 metres to finish ahead of his competitors.

WAPDA teammate Yasir Sultan secured the silver medal with a throw of 70.77 metres, while Pakistan Army’s Abrar Ali took bronze after registering a best effort of 67.68 metres.

Arshad, widely regarded as Pakistan’s premier javelin athlete, has been instrumental in raising the profile of the sport nationally. His participation in the National Games provides a major boost for local athletics, especially for emerging javelin talent.

Only two days prior, Arshad had expressed confidence in the National Games as a platform for discovering new athletic talent. “National Games will bring out new talent for Pakistan,” he told media during the opening ceremony at the National Bank Stadium. “Strong performers here could go on to represent the country internationally and make Pakistan proud.”

The javelin champion highlighted that top performers at the Games would be invited to a national training camp, with the opportunity to participate in Pakistan’s international competitions next year.

Arshad, who recently defended his gold medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games, said he has fully recovered from earlier injury issues and is now aiming higher. “I performed well despite the injury this year. I am completely fit now, and if my fitness remains the same, I will target a record throw,” he said, emphasizing his commitment to inspire the next generation of Pakistani javelin throwers.

Looking ahead, Arshad is focused on major international events, including the Diamond League, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games, as he continues to elevate Pakistan’s presence in the sport.
