Pakistan to Temporarily Close Airspace for Three Hours on Oct 28–29

Airspace will remain closed on Oct 28 and 29 from 6am to 9am, as per NOTAM issued by PAA

Short, time-bound restriction

Pakistan will briefly shut its airspace for three hours on Monday and Tuesday (October 28–29), from 6:00am to 9:00am each day, according to a NOTAM circulated by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA). The advisory has been shared with all airlines and aviation operators.

Possible link to regional drills

Officials familiar with the development say the temporary restriction follows reports of Indian tri-service combat exercises, “Trishul 2025,” slated along India’s western frontier from October 30 to November 10. Indian authorities have also imposed airspace closures near Gujarat and Rajasthan during the drills, according to local media.

Flight operations and passenger guidance

Airlines are expected to adjust schedules, with early-morning departures and arrivals most likely to be reslated or routed around the closure window. Passengers booked on affected flights should watch for carrier notifications and arrive at airports only after confirming revised timings.

Tense backdrop

The move comes amid strained ties between the neighbours. Earlier this year, an attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir triggered a sharp escalation, followed by cross-border hostilities and subsequent de-escalation under a U.S.-brokered ceasefire in May. Both sides have since emphasized readiness along their respective fronts.

Maritime readiness reiterated

Separately, during a visit to forward posts in the Creeks Area, Pakistan’s naval chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf reaffirmed that the Navy remains prepared to defend national waters, underscoring the broader security posture across domains.
