Karachi, July 11, 2025 – Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali, known for her roles in Tamasha Ghar and Jalaibee, was found dead in her Karachi apartment, with investigations suggesting she passed away eight to ten months ago, officials reported.
The 32-year-old’s body was discovered on Tuesday in a severely decomposed state in her rented flat in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase VI, following a court-ordered eviction due to unpaid rent since 2024. Police, accompanied by a bailiff, broke into the locked apartment after receiving no response and found her remains on the floor. The advanced decomposition, confirmed by Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed, has made determining the exact cause of death challenging, with no fractures detected in the bones. DNA profiling and toxicology tests are underway to provide further clarity, but preliminary findings suggest she died around October 2024, based on digital evidence like her last phone activity and expired food items in the apartment.
Humaira’s uncle, Mohammad Ali, speaking at her burial in Lahore on Friday, revealed that her parents disapproved of her showbiz career but maintained contact with her. “She enjoyed painting and was happy with her work,” he said, noting she had lived alone in Karachi since 2018 without sharing her address with family. He defended the family’s lack of action when her phone went inactive, stating, “No one leaves their child like that,” and suggested the landlord should have checked on her sooner.

The discovery, prompted by neighbors reporting a foul smell, has sparked widespread grief in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Celebrities, including Tamasha Ghar host Adnan Siddiqui and actress Mawra Hocane, expressed sorrow and called for better mental health support, highlighting Humaira’s isolation. Her death follows the recent passing of actress Ayesha Khan under similar circumstances, fueling discussions about the challenges faced by those living alone in the industry.
