Pakistan Denies US Fighter Jet Claims in Reckless Iran Strike Narrative

Pakistan-US-Iran conflict speculation has been firmly rejected by the government after viral claims alleged that American fighter jets and refuelling aircraft were using Pakistani airspace to prepare for a possible strike on Iran. Authorities have dismissed the reports as baseless, misleading, and part of a coordinated disinformation campaign aimed at dragging Pakistan into escalating US-Iran tensions.

Government Response to Viral Claims

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information on Monday categorically denied circulating reports that the United States had deployed fighter jets, refuelling tankers, or surveillance aircraft within Pakistan. The ministry described the claims as “reckless” and “blame-pushing”, warning that such narratives were deliberately designed to implicate Pakistan in a potential US-Iran conflict.

According to the ministry, the false reports gained traction shortly after US President Donald Trump publicly stated that military options against Iran were under consideration amid escalating protests there.

What the False Allegations Suggested

Social media accounts, reportedly linked to networks operating from India and Afghanistan, alleged that the US had repositioned KC-135R aerial refuelling tankers and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft to Pakistan.

These accounts further claimed that Pakistan was being used as a launch corridor or operational base for advanced US stealth aircraft, including F-35 and F-22 fighter jets, potentially in preparation for strikes on Iranian targets.

The information ministry said these claims were amplified without evidence and lacked verification from any credible international defence or media outlet.

Official Clarification on US Military Movements

Refuting the allegations, the ministry clarified that documented US aerial deployments have taken place in Europe and the Middle East, not South Asia. Citing reporting by established global publications such as Reuters and The Washington Post, officials noted that the Pentagon had dispatched refuelling aircraft to European bases amid heightened tensions in multiple regions.

“No credible outlet confirms that US KC-135R or ISR aircraft are operating in Pakistan,” the ministry stated, emphasizing that the viral claims were inconsistent with verified military tracking data and open-source intelligence reporting.

Pakistan’s Position on US-Iran Tensions

The government reiterated that Pakistan has consistently opposed military escalation in the region and recalled that Islamabad had publicly condemned US strikes on Iran carried out in June last year.

That operation, codenamed “Midnight Hammer,” involved what US officials described as the largest B-2 bomber strike in American history, targeting Iran’s underground uranium enrichment facility at Fordo as well as nuclear sites in Isfahan and Natanz.

Officials stressed that Pakistan neither facilitated nor supported those strikes and remains committed to regional stability and non-escalation.

Call for Responsible Information Sharing

The information ministry urged citizens, journalists, and social media users to exercise restraint and responsibility when consuming or sharing sensational military “breaking news,” particularly content originating from anonymous, unverified, or propaganda-linked accounts. It cautioned that the rapid spread of such unconfirmed information can distort facts, inflame public sentiment, and contribute to regional instability, ultimately damaging Pakistan’s diplomatic credibility and national interests.

The public was advised to rely on official statements from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), government ministries, and reputable international defence publications for matters related to national security and foreign policy.

As tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high, the government underscored that Pakistan will not allow itself to be drawn into conflicts through misinformation or digital manipulation.
