Israeli tanks have advanced into new areas on the outskirts of Gaza City, intensifying their offensive in the region. The push, which saw the destruction of homes and the displacement of civilians, comes just ahead of an anticipated meeting on the ongoing conflict, set to be chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
Israeli tanks moved into the Ebad-Alrahman neighborhood on the northern edge of Gaza City late Tuesday, shelling residential areas and prompting many residents to flee deeper into the city. Witnesses reported loud explosions as tanks fired on houses, wounding several individuals and displacing many families who were caught by surprise. One local resident, Saad Abed, described the chaos as explosions became increasingly louder, forcing people to seek refuge in safer areas.

“For those of us still here, if a truce is not reached, we expect the tanks to be right outside our homes soon,” Abed said from his home in Jala Street, about one kilometer from the heavily targeted neighborhood.
Israel has signaled its intent to launch a more aggressive military operation in Gaza City, which it has identified as Hamas’ final stronghold in the region. The city is home to approximately half of Gaza’s two million residents, many of whom are now being urged to evacuate their homes as Israel prepares for further escalation.
