Operation Raddul Fitna Concluded With Decisive Blow to Terror Networks in Balochistan

Full News Article

Operation Raddul Fitna has concluded in Balochistan with Pakistan’s security forces delivering a decisive blow to militant networks, eliminating 216 terrorists during coordinated intelligence-based operations, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Thursday.

The operation Raddul Fitna was launched following a surge in violent attacks across multiple districts of Balochistan, targeting civilians, security personnel, and public infrastructure. According to the military’s media wing, the campaign was carried out through swift, intelligence-driven actions aimed at neutralising what it described as India-sponsored terrorist elements attempting to undermine peace and development in the province.

Major Counterterror Gains Across Balochistan

ISPR stated that the operations spanned several high-risk areas, including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni. These regions had witnessed coordinated attacks on January 31, which prompted an immediate escalation of counterterror measures.

Initial operations began on January 29 in Panjgur and the outskirts of Harnai after verified intelligence confirmed the presence of militants posing an imminent threat to local populations. During this phase alone, 41 terrorists linked to foreign-backed proxy networks were eliminated.

Subsequently, broader intelligence-based operations like (Raddul Fitna) were launched across multiple districts to dismantle sleeper cells, destroy hideouts, and recover weapons caches. ISPR said the sustained clearance and sanitisation efforts significantly weakened the militants’ leadership, command structures, and operational capacity.

Martyrdom and Civilian Losses

Despite operational success, the campaign came at a high cost. ISPR confirmed that 22 personnel from the security forces and law enforcement agencies embraced martyrdom. Additionally, 36 civilians, including women and children, lost their lives in terrorist attacks during the recent wave of violence.

The military paid tribute to the fallen, stating that their sacrifice reflected the highest traditions of national service. The nation, it added, stands united with the families of all martyrs.

National and International Response

The attacks and subsequent security response drew widespread condemnation from the international community. Countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Iran, the UAE, and France, along with organisations such as the United Nations Security Council, European Union, OIC, and others, denounced the violence.

President Asif Ali Zardari praised the security forces for thwarting what he termed “nefarious plans” of terrorists, emphasising that intelligence-based operations had dealt a significant blow to foreign-backed militancy. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed these sentiments, stating that the nation would never forget the sacrifices made by its martyrs.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti described Operation Raddul Fitna as a clear warning to militants and their supporters, asserting that Pakistan would not compromise on unity, development, or public safety.

Restoration of Normalcy

Addressing a press conference in Quetta, Chief Minister’s aide Shahid Rind confirmed that mobile data services would be restored later today, though temporary disruptions may continue due to ongoing security measures. Search and combing operations remain active in Quetta and surrounding areas, while damaged roads in Nushki are being repaired.

Officials also confirmed that school examinations and the anti-polio campaign would proceed as scheduled. Authorities maintain that the overall security situation in Quetta remains stable.

ISPR reaffirmed that counterterror operations under the National Action Plan will continue until the complete elimination of terrorist threats.
