No Programme for Further Talks: Khawaja Asif Confirms Suspension of Pakistan-Afghanistan Negotiations
In a significant development on Friday, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif revealed that ongoing negotiations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have been suspended indefinitely, with no immediate plans for a fourth round of talks. Asif described the situation as a complete deadlock, highlighting the current inability to move forward with the discussions.

Speaking during an appearance on Geo News’ programme Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath, Asif confirmed that the talks had entered an “indefinite phase,” with no clear resolution or pathway for future engagement. This marks a pause in the diplomatic dialogue aimed at resolving long-standing issues between the neighboring nations.
“We are in a complete deadlock,” said Asif, underscoring the challenging circumstances surrounding the negotiations. He further emphasized that the stalemate has no defined endpoint, leaving the situation unresolved for the time being.

Despite the setback in bilateral discussions, Asif acknowledged the role of international mediators, specifically Turkey and Qatar, who have made “sincere efforts” to facilitate dialogue and ease tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
