Pakistan is emerging as an important diplomatic facilitator amid evolving Iran-US negotiations and shifting geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East, according to political analyst Tahir Javed during his appearance on AikPage Live, hosted by Farwa Waheed.
Tahir Javed stated that ongoing developments reflect a significant opportunity for Pakistan to strengthen its regional and international standing by facilitating communication between key global actors. He noted that Iran-US talks are progressing through sensitive negotiations, although trust deficits and political challenges still remain.
He highlighted that Pakistan’s involvement in supporting diplomatic channels between Iran and the United States could enhance its strategic relevance at a time when global powers are reassessing their positions in the region. According to him, this role may open new avenues for Pakistan in energy cooperation, trade, and regional diplomacy.
Discussing Pakistan-Iran relations, Tahir Javed pointed to opportunities in energy collaboration, including the long-discussed gas pipeline project, as well as broader economic and security cooperation. He suggested that improved relations could contribute to long-term regional stability, although implementation and agreements remain in a developing phase.
On Pakistan-US relations, he emphasized the importance of shifting from personality-based diplomacy to institutional engagement. He stressed that Pakistan should strengthen ties with the US Congress, Senate, and policy institutions through consistent diplomatic outreach, delegation exchanges, and long-term strategic communication.
Tahir Javed further observed that building stable institutional relationships would help Pakistan maintain continuity in foreign policy regardless of political changes in Washington. He argued that this approach is essential for securing sustained cooperation in trade, security, and regional affairs. He concluded that Pakistan is currently positioned at a critical diplomatic moment, where effective engagement with both regional and global powers could significantly enhance its geopolitical and economic standing in the years ahead.
