ISLAMABAD — July 28, 2026 — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif hosted a U.S. Congressional delegation at the Prime Minister House on Tuesday to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United States across economic, strategic, and parliamentary domains.
The delegation, comprising U.S. Representatives Ryan Zinke and Michael Baumgartner, met with the Prime Minister alongside Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker.
During the meeting, PM Shehbaz congratulated the lawmakers on the 250th anniversary of U.S. Independence and conveyed warm regards to U.S. President Donald Trump. Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to stronger ties, the Prime Minister emphasized expanding cooperation in high-priority sectors, including IT, agriculture, mines and minerals, trade, and energy. Both sides agreed to increase the frequency of reciprocal parliamentary visits.
Following the diplomatic talks, Prime Minister Shehbaz hosted a reception for a visiting delegation of U.S. corporate executives from the technology, energy, mining, and manufacturing sectors.
Welcoming the business leaders, the Prime Minister highlighted economic cooperation as the central pillar of future bilateral ties. He specifically praised prominent Pakistani-American entrepreneur Mr. Tahir Javed and the overseas Pakistani business community for their pivotal role in facilitating high-level trade initiatives and serving as a crucial bridge between the two nations.
