Punjab Schools Set Winter Holidays from December 22
LAHORE: The Punjab government has officially announced winter vacations for all public and private schools across the province. According to a notification issued by the Education Department on Thursday, the holidays will begin on December 22, 2025, and schools will reopen on January 10, 2026.

Exams Rescheduled
Earlier, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that matriculation and intermediate examinations would now be held after Eid ul Fitr. Matric exams were initially scheduled for March 3, while the intermediate exam schedule was still under review. The revised timeline ensures exams take place after the festive holidays, giving students additional preparation time.

Revised School Timings
In October, the Punjab School Education Department adjusted school hours to counter worsening smog conditions. Daily classes now run from 8:45am to 1:30pm from Monday to Thursday, and schools close at 12:30pm on Fridays.
The winter break provides students and staff a chance to rest and recharge before the next academic term begins in January, aligning with the government’s efforts to maintain a safe and healthy school environment.
