GAZA, December 8, 2025 — Israeli forces reportedly carried out new violations of the Gaza ceasefire on Monday, targeting residential areas and using artillery and helicopter attacks in zones under their control, according to local sources cited by Anadolu Agency. The operations mark one of the latest breaches since the truce took effect on October 10, 2023.
The ceasefire, brokered to end months of intense conflict, had brought temporary relief to the Gaza Strip after Israel’s military offensive claimed over 70,000 lives and left more than 171,000 people injured. Despite the agreement, repeated incidents have continued to escalate tensions, raising concerns among humanitarian agencies and local authorities.
In western Rafah, Israeli forces reportedly detonated residential buildings while opening fire in eastern neighborhoods. Simultaneously, artillery shelling and helicopter strikes were reported east of Khan Younis, another area under Israeli control according to the terms of the truce. Civilians in these areas have been forced to flee their homes, exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation.

The Gaza media office said that since the truce began, Israel has committed hundreds of ceasefire violations, resulting in 373 Palestinian fatalities and 970 injuries. Local residents describe a persistent atmosphere of fear and uncertainty, with many struggling to access basic necessities, including medical care, food, and clean water.
Analysts warn that these repeated violations could undermine fragile peace efforts and prolong instability in the region. Human rights organizations have called for renewed international pressure to ensure that all parties adhere strictly to the truce, emphasizing the protection of civilians and respect for international humanitarian law.
“The repeated targeting of residential areas not only endangers civilians but also threatens the credibility of ongoing peace efforts,” a Gaza-based analyst said. “Sustainable stability requires that all sides respect the terms of the ceasefire and work toward a lasting resolution.”
The attacks come amid broader regional tensions, with continued concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the potential for renewed hostilities if violations persist.
