Imran Khan’s Sons to Visit Pakistan, Confirms PTI Spokesperson

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has dismissed rumors suggesting that former Prime Minister Imran Khan has prohibited his sons from visiting Pakistan. PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram clarified on Tuesday that Imran Khan has not stopped his children from coming to the country, emphasizing that they will visit at an appropriate time, although the exact date remains uncertain.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram responded to media reports that claimed Imran Khan had instructed his sons, Suleman Khan (28) and Kasim Khan (26), not to visit Pakistan. Akram firmly denied the allegations, asserting that the former prime minister had “absolutely not stopped” his children from coming to Pakistan. He also requested media outlets to report facts directly from Imran Khan’s statements rather than interpreting or distorting them.

Akram further emphasized that the media should avoid spreading unfounded propaganda. “When Imran Khan’s sons decide to visit, they will inform him, but they are not seeking permission,” Akram clarified, urging the public to refrain from speculative reporting.

Earlier reports had suggested that Imran Khan’s sons would not participate in the upcoming protests demanding his release. The former prime minister, who has been imprisoned since August 2023, faces several charges ranging from corruption to terrorism, following his ousting in April 2022.

The PTI’s anti-government movement is reaching its peak, with a major protest scheduled for August 5, marking two years since Imran Khan’s incarceration. This protest will also highlight demands for his release. Sources mentioned that the PTI founder had stated that his sons would neither participate in the protests nor lead them, despite their growing involvement in advocacy for his freedom.

Khan’s sons are currently in the United States, meeting lawmakers to garner support for their father’s release. In May and June, Kasim Khan publicly expressed concern about his father’s treatment in prison, highlighting his isolation and denial of basic rights such as family visits and access to legal counsel. This marks a significant public outcry from the former prime minister’s children regarding his imprisonment.

As PTI prepares for the August 5 protest, which is expected to culminate in significant demonstrations, the party remains firm in its stance that Imran Khan’s children will visit Pakistan soon, and any claims to the contrary are simply unfounded.
