NDMA weather alert has been issued across Pakistan, warning of widespread rain, thunderstorms, and potential flooding over the next 12 to 24 hours as a strong weather system enters the country.
NDMA Weather Alert Issued
The National Disaster Management Authority, through its National Emergencies Operation Center, reported that a western wind system is moving into the country from Balochistan. This system is expected to trigger rain showers accompanied by strong winds and gusty storms in multiple regions.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, particularly in vulnerable areas, as weather conditions may intensify rapidly.

Areas Expected to Receive Rain
Rainfall with thunderstorms is forecast in Islamabad and several cities across Punjab, including:
- Rawalpindi
- Lahore
- Sialkot
- Faisalabad
- Multan
Additional rainfall is expected in central and southern districts, increasing the likelihood of widespread wet conditions.
In Sindh, cities such as Sukkur, Larkana, and Jacobabad are also likely to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
Flood Risks and Warnings
The NDMA has cautioned about urban flooding in low-lying areas, particularly in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal.
Flash flood risks have also been highlighted in parts of Balochistan, including:
- Gwadar
- Turbat
- Khuzdar
Similarly, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts such as Peshawar, Mardan, and Bannu may face flood-like conditions.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also warned that heavy rainfall could overwhelm drainage systems in urban centers.
Snowfall in Northern Regions
In addition to rain, snowfall is expected in upper and mountainous areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, as well as parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Tourist destinations such as Skardu and Hunza are likely to experience cold and snowy conditions, which may disrupt travel.

Public Safety Advisory
Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautionary measures during severe weather. Strong winds, lightning, and possible hailstorms could damage weak structures, uproot trees, and disrupt power lines.
Drivers have been warned about slippery roads and reduced visibility, while residents in hilly areas should remain alert for landslides.
Tourists planning to visit northern regions are encouraged to check weather updates before traveling. The NDMA has also recommended using its official “Pak NDMA Disaster Alert” mobile application for real-time updates.
With provincial and district administrations placed on high alert, officials are preparing emergency responses to minimize risks and ensure public safety during the expected weather spell.
